Coinbase is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the Platform team to set the technical direction for test infrastructure and ship fast without compromising reliability. You will own core services like test orchestration, flaky-test detection, and result analysis, partnering with engineers to remove bottlenecks and improve feedback speed.

The role emphasizes leadership in platform improvements, observability, and creating reliable, scalable testing environments across Coinbase engineering.

Qualifications

• 10+ years building and operating production software with distributed systems fundamentals.
• Track record defining and delivering technical strategy for foundational systems.
• Deep experience in test infrastructure including scale, flaky-test detection, and test result analysis.
• Experience operating reliable systems at scale using Kubernetes, AWS, GitHub Actions, Terraform, and Datadog.

Responsibilities

• Define and own the technical strategy for test infrastructure across Coinbase engineering, with feedback speed as a core design constraint.
• Build and operate core test infrastructure services, including test orchestration, sharding, and test result analysis.
• Drive improvements in test feedback speed and signal reliability so engineers can ship with confidence.
• Own systems end to end, including architecture, observability, SLOs, and on-call operations.
• Mentor engineers and shape how the organization approaches test infrastructure.
