Job summary

Voleon is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for Strategy Platform in New York. The hybrid role focuses on building and operating core data and trading-automation infrastructure that connects research data to live trading systems.

You will own large-scale platform components, drive data access and cataloging, and lead cross-functional projects across research, trading, and data teams. The team values robust observability, reliable deployment, and rapid iteration.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of backend, data pipelines, or platform engineering experience.
• Owned platform systems used by other teams, with decomposition decisions and migration planning.
• Strong debugging and observability instincts; comfortable in large datasets and complex pipelines.
• Computer Science Degree or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Own significant platform components end-to-end including design, build, operate and evolve.
• Define data access, validation, orchestration, and cataloging across research and production.
• Engineer smooth deployment processes for research experiments into production.
• Develop tooling to integrate data from diverse vendors and unify symbol mappings.
• Support data pipelines with strong temporal semantics under latency and correctness constraints.
• Sequence platform migrations to shared abstractions with minimal disruption to live trading systems.
• Lead cross-functional projects across research, legal, trading, finance ops, data, and infrastructure.
• Build tooling to support integration with new assets and markets.
• Improve observability across the strategy lifecycle including data cataloguing, experiment tracking and production SLAs.
