Job summary

Stripe is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the Storage Abstractions (STAX) team in San Francisco. You will set technical direction and lead multi-year initiatives at the intersection of developer infrastructure, data access, and AI.

Build storage-access frameworks and agent-friendly interfaces across languages and backends. You will design stable interfaces, guardrails, and developer workflows to ensure correctness, reliability, and high performance.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Experience leading technical strategy and delivery for cross-team initiatives.
• Experience in API design, SDKs, abstractions, frameworks, or client libraries.
• Hands-on infrastructure and product development for internal or external customers.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction for Stripe’s storage-access initiatives.
• Lead high-impact programs from strategy through delivery.
• Evolve storage abstractions for multi-language and multi-backend use.
