Job summary

Google's Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team seeks a database-focused engineer to ensure reliability and performance at scale across Google's services, including Search, Ads, Gmail, YouTube, and AppEngine.

You will design and implement robust database solutions, manage cross‑platform environments (on‑prem and GCP), and collaborate with engineers, program managers, and data scientists to meet business needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of software development experience.
• 5 years of SQL/PLSQL/T-SQL experience.
• 4 years on DB administration and relational development in GCP.
• 3 years designing and implementing analytics reports and dashboards.
• 2 years building automation scripts with Python or Terraform.

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, build, test, and maintain robust database applications tailored for semiconductor manufacturing.
• Manage database administration across on-premises systems (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, Vertica, PostgreSQL) and GCP environments (AlloyDB, Cloud Spanner).
• Adhere to software engineering standards and best practices for requirement documentation, system design, implementation, and testing.
• Collaborate with cross-functional leadership, engineers, program managers, and data scientists to identify and address business and technical requirements.
• Manage and deliver on multiple concurrent projects with minimal direction.
