Job summary

Google DeepMind is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for Server and Full-Stack work within Growth and Discovery. Based in New York, you will contribute to building and testing AI agent prototypes, develop visualization tools, and design scalable systems across backend and client applications.

You will lead design efforts for high-throughput systems, work with ML research teams, and contribute to Gemini app growth experiences.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or a related STEM field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in software development, systems programming, or applied ML engineering or equivalent education credit (e.g., internships, student research, pre-graduate working experience).
• 5 years of experience designing and launching large-scale production software products or foundation AI systems.
• 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products, and with full stack development, across back-end such as Java, Python, Golang, or C++ codebases.
• 3 years of experience leading software design and system architecture for high-throughput distributed systems, foundation model runtimes, or client applications.
• 3 years of experience with performance, system architecture, large-scale systems data analysis, visualization tools, debugging.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy high-quality consumer product features across web, mobile (iOS/Android), or backend services.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Design, and Research teams to translate ambiguous requirements into concrete technical solutions.
• Develop simple, reusable, and scalable code libraries and frameworks to accelerate product development.
• Iterate rapidly on product prototypes and features, balancing development velocity with a high standard of code quality and craft.
