Job summary

Coinbase, Inc. is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the Access & Authorization team to design and operate secure, scalable authentication and authorization services used across Coinbase products and partner integrations.

You will build low-latency Go services with gRPC, implement OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWTs, and patterns like PKCE and passkeys, while mentoring engineers and coordinating with product, security, and infrastructure teams to balance security, usability, and regulatory

Qualifications

• 8+ years of backend software engineering experience.
• Experience designing secure APIs and auth concepts.
• Proficiency with Go or similar systems language.
• Strong communication across product, security, and infra.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end design and operation of auth capabilities.
• Build secure, low-latency Go and gRPC services.
• Lead technical designs for tokens, 2FA, and edge auth.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to balance security and UX.
• Mentor engineers and participate in reviews and on-call.
