Symbotic in Massachusetts is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the Fleet Controls team. You will lead design and development of high‑performance real-time software that orchestrates fleets of autonomous mobile robots in automated warehouse environments, delivering scalable, reliable control systems across multiple deployment sites.

You will mentor junior engineers, drive technical excellence, optimize fleet performance, and own key software components end-to-end.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related STEM field.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional software development experience.
• At least 1 year in technical leadership or team lead role.

Responsibilities

• Design & Development: Build real-time, high-performance software for managing fleets of mobile robots.
• Performance Optimization: Analyze fleet performance and improve key metrics.
• Software Excellence: Develop high-quality, robust software in a fast-paced environment.
• Technical Leadership: Mentor junior engineers and lead technical efforts across projects.
• Issue Resolution: Identify and address root causes of software performance issues.
• Testing: Develop and maintain unit and system-level tests for production software.
