Job summary

Plaid is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the Protect Core team to shape real-time fraud scoring and attributes delivery. You will stay hands-on in architecture, production code, data investigations, and debugging while guiding multi-quarter initiatives.

You’ll collaborate with DS/ML, product, and fraud researchers to surface new signals and expand product modules. This role rewards practical engineering with fast feedback and ownership.

Qualifications

• 8+ years building and operating backend or distributed systems at scale.
• Hands-on in codebase; builder archetype for multi-quarter initiatives.
• Strong ability to translate ambiguous problems into deliverables and measurable outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Care about product value for customers and ship features.
• Collaborate with DS/ML teams; run notebooks and Spark jobs when needed.
• Lead by example on AI-assisted engineering; write linters and push code across repos.
• Raise technical bar via reviews, mentorship and hands-on leadership.
• Identify opportunities, prototype fraud signals, and deliver production-ready systems.
