Job summary

Plaid is seeking a Data Science Manager for its Fraud Data team in New York. You will lead customer-facing data science and fraud product analytics, shape the roadmap, and mentor high-performing data scientists while staying hands-on with key analyses and initiatives.

You will partner with Product, Engineering, GTM, and customers to translate insights into scalable product capabilities and business impact while driving metric design and data foundations across the Fraud portfolio.

Qualifications

• Proven experience managing data scientists and growing a team.
• Deep domain expertise in fraud, risk, or related areas.
• Strong experience in product analytics, metric design, and measuring product performance.
• Experience partnering directly with customers to deliver data-driven insights and solutions.
• Strong technical depth in Python, SQL, statistics, product analytics, and applied modeling.
• Demonstrated ability to set technical direction and deliver complex, high-impact initiatives through a team while remaining hands-on.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills across Product, Engineering, Machine Learning, GTM, and customer stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Define a 6–12 month roadmap with Product, Engineering, and GTM, and assign priorities across the team.
• Define product metrics, their underlying data, and reporting and alerting practices; use results for roadmap decisions.
• Establish a repeatable process for customer retrospectives and proofs of concept with data checks and clear recommendations.
• Identify fraud signals and product opportunities recurring across analyses and develop them with Product and MLEs.
• Review analytical designs, data models, code, and model evaluations; contribute to investigations.
• Coach data scientists through clear expectations, feedback, and growth opportunities.
• Use AI-assisted analysis and development tools where useful, ensuring results are reviewed before customer recommendations.
