Job summary

Alarm.com is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to act as a technical multiplier across SPX and Device Platform. You will own complex initiatives end-to-end, shape architectural direction, and build reusable platform components used by multiple teams.

This role demands deep backend expertise and a track record of influencing across domains. Ideal candidates bring 10+ years of backend experience, strong architectural judgment, and experience with enterprise-level APIs, data pipelines, and device

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in CS/Engineering.
10+ years of backend software engineering experience.
Proven experience leading large, multi-engineer technical initiatives end-to-end.
Ability to define and evolve reusable platform patterns and shared libraries.
Strong architectural judgment and cross-team collaboration.

Responsibilities

Own technical direction for cross-cutting initiatives spanning device APIs, event pipelines, and lifecycle management.
Lead architectural design for medium-to-large initiatives with design tradeoffs documented.
Define and evolve shared platform patterns, API contracts, and event schemas.
Drive end-to-end delivery of large initiatives with autonomy.
Ensure systems are observable, maintainable, and production-ready.
