Job summary

The Nuclear Company is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to architect and deliver software powering our nuclear energy platform. You will lead design, mentor engineers, and collaborate with hardware and control teams to ensure safe, reliable systems in a highly regulated environment.

Responsibilities include end-to-end software development, rigorous QA, and documentation. You will shape technical direction and contribute to revolutionary, affordable clean energy solutions across the nuclear

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
• 7+ years of progressive experience in software development.
• Experience developing software for highly regulated, safety-critical or mission-critical industries; nuclear preferred.
• Proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, or Python.
• Experience with full SDLCs, including Agile and Waterfall.
• Strong understanding of design patterns, data structures, and algorithms.
• Experience with Git and collaborative development workflows.
• Expertise in designing and implementing complex software architectures.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of robust, scalable software for critical nuclear energy applications.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior and mid-level engineers.
• Coordinate with hardware and control systems teams for seamless integration.
• Implement rigorous software quality assurance, testing, and documentation to meet nuclear regulations.
• Identify and resolve complex performance issues for reliable operation under demanding conditions.
• Propose innovative solutions and drive implementation from concept to deployment.
• Create and maintain thorough technical documentation including design specs and diagrams.
