Job summary

Datadog seeks a talented engineer to lead evaluation of startup acquisition opportunities in AI, cloud, and security. You will drive product evaluations, manage technical architecture discussions, and provide roadmap suggestions for M&A and investments, partnering closely with Datadog’s leadership.

You will stress-test candidate products, assess architecture risks, and translate findings into integration plans, working with Product and Engineering to influence deal decisions.

Qualifications

• Experienced in product development, solution architecture or engineering.
• BS/MS/PhD in a STEM field or equivalent experience.
• Excellent communicator with strong storytelling and decision-communication skills.
• Versatile in cloud technologies relevant to Datadog’s offerings.
• Able to prioritize multiple stakeholders and projects with limited resources.
• Self-starter who thrives in technically demanding, fast-paced environments.
• Able to collect feedback from multiple parties and synthesize it with data.
• Ability to build and maintain relationships to facilitate deal flow.

Responsibilities

• Identify compelling opportunities that support Datadog’s strategic priorities through engagement with senior business leaders, entrepreneurs, and venture capitalists.
• Partner with product teams to assess expansion opportunities and build internal/external consensus.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on valuation and integration for acquisitions.
• Lead all pre-transaction technical diligence efforts (product and architecture).
• Create sandbox environments to stress-test candidate products and test claims.
• Translate evaluation findings into strategic recommendations for leadership.
• Represent Product and Engineering in initial product calls and identify targets with product fit.
• Act as main contact point for startups and cross-functional groups within Datadog.
