Shepherd is hiring a Staff Software Engineer who thrives on ownership and delivering high-impact products. You will drive major initiatives across the product experience, collaborate with underwriting, design, and PMs, and mentor teammates while balancing innovation with pragmatic delivery.

You should bring 8+ years of full-stack experience, strong JS/TS skills, and familiarity with insurance or InsurTech. This role offers the chance to shape a fast-growing platform in the commercial risk space.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of full-stack software engineering experience.
• Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and GraphQL.
• Insurance or InsurTech experience is a plus.
• Ability to own end-to-end features from concept to release.

Responsibilities

• Lead major initiatives and own a large area of Shepherd's product experience, across verticals.
• Work across the stack with underwriting, design, and product management.
• Mentor other engineers and help scale the team.
• Balance innovation with pragmatic delivery while shipping high-quality products.
• Contribute to product strategy and architectural decisions.
