Job summary

Apple Services Engineering (ASE) leads cloud infrastructure and platform technologies powering key Apple experiences. We seek a passionate lead engineer/architect to shape the next version of our large-scale object storage and distributed key-value store within Storage Platforms.

You will design, build, and operate systems ensuring durability, high availability, and security across thousands of hosts, collaborating with multiple internal teams to deliver scalable, testable code and robust

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software development experience.
• 5+ years building and operating distributed systems.
• Experience coding in Rust, C++, Java or C#.
• Bachelor’s Degree in CS, an engineering-related field, or equivalent related experience.

Responsibilities

• Directly impact the backend direction for the Apple internet services for years to come.
• Design, build and maintain software and services to improve availability, scalability and security of Apple’s internal cloud infrastructure.
• Make tradeoffs on availability and performance while prioritizing durability.
• Design and implement features for a distributed key-value store (automatic repairs, shard splits and rebalances).
• Massively scalable system currently spread across 2000+ hosts and handling 5M+ transactions per second.
• Collaborate with internal teams, including customer teams and the storage reliability engineering team.
• Focus on building testable, maintainable code and scalable processes across the team.
