Job summary

Google is hiring a Staff Software Engineer for the Jetpack XR team in San Jose, CA. You will provide technical leadership across complex, cross-functional initiatives and help shape the architecture of Google's next-gen XR SDK.

Role focuses on balancing technical depth with strategic direction, mentoring senior engineers, and driving alignment across globally distributed teams. This is a hands-on, architecture-focused role with no people management.

Qualifications

• 8 years of experience programming in C++, Java, Python, Kotlin or Go.
• 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products.
• 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
• Experience with Android or iOS application development.

Responsibilities

• Drive the strategic design and evolution of Jetpack XR architecture for a cohesive, scalable SDK.
• Develop and implement advanced automated testing strategies for JXR within AOSP.
• Provide high-level technical guidance and architectural support to key partners and developers.
• Partner with Engineering Productivity to optimize CI/CD pipelines and reduce manual QA through automation.
