Job summary

Stripe is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer for the Issuing team to define the technical strategy across backend services, APIs, and user-facing surfaces. You will own end-to-end technical solutions for critical systems like authorization flows, spending controls, and cardholder management, ensuring reliability and scalability.

You will collaborate with product managers, design, and partners across Issuing, Authorization, Clearing and Settlement, and Balances to drive cross-cutting

Qualifications

10+ years of software engineering experience with impact across multiple teams or systems.
Strong API design instincts for developer-friendly interfaces.
Experience designing and shipping large-scale distributed backend systems.

Responsibilities

Define and drive the technical strategy for Issuing across backend services and APIs.
Own end-to-end technical solutions for critical systems and card program configuration.
Collaborate with product, design, and cross-functional partners to drive initiatives from design to launch.
Mentor and grow senior engineers and contribute to engineering hiring and culture.
