Job summary

Google is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the Infra, Ads Quality Infrastructure, Dynamo team in Mountain View. You will influence the architecture and scaling of critical ad-serving infrastructure at Google scale.

The role emphasizes leadership in distributed systems, low-level programming (C/C++), and collaboration across Google Ads and Research teams to ensure reliability and performance for billions of users.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of software development experience.
• 5 years building large-scale infrastructure or distributed systems.
• Experience designing, building, operating distributed systems with scalability and reliability.

• Experience designing and implementing infrastructure solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead architectural improvements for next-generation data infrastructure, reducing complexity and improving reliability.
• Design and build highly scalable distributed data processing pipelines for advertising serving systems.
• Drive best practices and system design, mentoring team members and ensuring production health.
• Develop and scale frameworks for AI/ML workloads, including offline embedding generation and model inference.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to optimize indexing and low-latency metadata serving.

• Experience in C++ and distributed backend systems architecting solutions that process massive datasets at low latency.
• Experience building data extraction and transformation platforms or working with machine learning infrastructure.
• Experience modernizing legacy architecture, driving migrations, and ensuring production reliability with cross‑functional partner teams.

US: $207000 - $300000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits

• Design and build highly scalable systems, architecting distributed data processing pipelines that extract and transform massive datasets to power advertising serving systems.
