Job summary

Stripe is hiring a Staff Software Engineer to lead new money-movement capabilities in Link. You will transform ambiguous opportunities into reliable, scalable experiences for consumers and merchants.

This hands-on, IC role spans architecture to delivery, requiring collaboration with multiple Stripe teams to enable safe, global financial capabilities. Strong backend and full-stack skills across Java, Ruby, and TypeScript are essential.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of backend and/or full-stack development experience with ownership of large systems.
• Proven track record in design and delivery of complex software from definition to launch.
• Strong full-stack capabilities and ability to ship reliable backend services and user experiences.
• Experience guiding a team of engineers on substantial projects as a senior contributor.
• Ability to operate in high-ambiguity settings and make durable technical decisions.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the technical strategy, architecture, and execution for Link initiatives.
• Own end-to-end projects from problem framing to delivery and iteration.
• Build robust backend services and consumer-facing experiences across Java, Ruby, and TypeScript.
• Lead project teams, establishing priorities, risks, and milestones.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Data Science, Risk, and Infrastructure teams.
• Navigate dependencies across payments and money-movement platforms balancing speed and reliability.
• Raise engineering bar through reviews, mentoring, and feedback.
• Contribute to the longer-term roadmap for global financial capabilities.
