Job summary

Stripe, a financial infrastructure platform, is hiring a Staff Software Engineer to lead the design and delivery of new money movement capabilities in Link. This hands‑on IC role requires owning large cross‑functional programs from definition through launch and iteration.

You will ship robust backend services and consumer experiences across Java, Ruby, and TypeScript while ensuring safety, reliability, and user trust. Global scale and sound architectural decisions are central to the role.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of backend and/or full‑stack software development experience, owning large, ambiguous systems end‑to‑end.
• Strong full‑stack engineering skills with reliable backend services and high‑quality user experiences.
• Experience leading and unblocking engineers on substantial projects as a senior contributor.
• Experience with Java, Ruby, and/or TypeScript; strong fundamentals trump language specifics.
• Experience building payments, money movement, fintech, or regulated financial products.
• Familiarity with documenting architecture and driving long‑term technical roadmaps.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical strategy, architecture, and execution for large Link initiatives enabling new money‑movement primitives.
• Own projects end to end from problem definition to launch and iteration.
• Build robust backend services and consumer‑facing experiences across Java, Ruby, and TypeScript.
• Lead a project team of engineers, clarifying priorities, decisions, risks, and milestones.
• Partner with Product, Design, Data Science, Risk, and Infra to deliver safe, reliable capabilities.
• Navigate dependencies across Stripe’s payments and money‑movement platforms with balance between speed and reliability.
• Raise engineering bar through reviews, mentoring, and constructive feedback to the team.
• Shape the team’s long‑term roadmap by identifying opportunities and investments to scale Link globally.
