Reddit is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the technical architecture of our media infrastructure, defining the strategy for ingesting, processing, storing, and delivering video and audio content globally.

You will architect scalable, fault-tolerant systems, optimize media pipelines, mentor multiple engineering teams, and set engineering standards and SLOs/SLAs while applying AI-assisted tooling to accelerate development.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Distributed Systems Expertise: large-scale distributed systems and microservices.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience leading large, cross-functional engineering initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Architect for Scale: lead design and evolution of global media processing and delivery infrastructure.
• Optimize media pipelines and ensure performance, latency, and QoE goals.
• Set engineering standards, define SLOs/SLAs, and drive technical roadmaps.
• Mentor multiple engineering teams and foster cross-team alignment.
