Job summary

Labcorp Genetics is seeking a Staff Software Engineer, Variant Classification to join our genetics team. This full-time role focuses on constructing tools for conveying variant, sample, and test level data to support accurate interpretation and reporting.

You will translate raw bioinformatic data into structured information, scale data storage, and automate evidence placement while collaborating with data scientists and software engineers to meet stakeholder needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of professional software development experience.
• 10+ years of Python development experience (intermediate or higher).
• 10+ years of experience with relational databases and web development frameworks.
• 10+ years of experience with front-end technologies (React/Angular/Vue.js/JS/TS/HTML/CSS).
• 10+ years of experience with RESTful APIs and microservices architecture.
• 10+ years of experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• 10+ years of experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

Responsibilities

• Design and build tools to store and provide variant, sample, and test level information for interpretation and report generation.
• Translate raw bioinformatic data into variant and sample level information with registration, normalization, and quality metrics.
• Scale and optimize storage of sample level information for growth.
• Provide annotations at the variant level for accurate interpretation.
• Automate evidence placement and classification for variant interpretation.
• Support test content and assay development initiatives.
• Collaborate with data scientists, variant scientists, and software developers to meet requirements.
