Job summary

Google's Staff Software Engineer for the GCE Fleet Deployment Platform in Seattle will own the services and tooling that manage VM and host software updates, driving deployment velocity, reliability, and uptime.

You will provide technical leadership on high-impact projects, coach distributed teams, and design scalable systems for large-scale infrastructure, with opportunities to shape direction across Google Cloud.

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

• 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
• 5 years of experience in cloud compute software infrastructure, building operationally excellent services in a release engineering context, updating software state across a large fleet.
• 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.
• 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
• 3 years of experience in a large-scale distributed systems environment.
