The Marketplace Payments team develops secure, scalable payment platforms and financial services that enable global sellers to transact efficiently and expand their businesses. This team delivers innovative payment solutions impacting millions of shoppers worldwide. Collaborating across functions, the team ensures a seamless, reliable experience for Walmart sellers while driving continuous improvement. Emphasizing technical excellence, data‑driven decision making, and cloud‑native architecture, the team builds scalable, resilient systems and delivers high‑quality software solutions globally.

What you’ll do
  • Deliver platform capabilities including infrastructure, tooling, and ML frameworks aligned with roadmap milestones and domain priorities.
  • Lead end‑to‑end software development lifecycle activities—design, coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, maintenance—while leveraging AI to accelerate delivery and enhance quality across every stage of the SDLC.
  • Apply cloud‑native architecture principles to ensure scalable, resilient, and agile systems.
  • Conduct system design reviews to validate feasibility and ensure alignment with architectural best practices.
  • Build AI‑driven applications and integrate ML components using multiple programming languages.
  • Mentor engineers, influence technical decisions, and promote engineering excellence through documentation and knowledge sharing.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate complex problems into actionable technical requirements and track success metrics.
What you’ll bring
  • Expertise in cloud‑native architecture, including microservices, containers, and automation to ensure scalable and resilient systems.
  • Strong experience in software design patterns, API design, and software prototyping to deliver maintainable and modular solutions.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Java.
  • Lead full software development lifecycle activities including coding, testing, CI/CD deployment, and maintenance.
  • Experience in leveraging AI to accelerate software development and improve engineering productivity.
  • Skilled in DevOps engineering practices to enhance infrastructure, tooling, and developer productivity.
  • Experience applying data‑driven decision making to optimize engineering processes and outcomes.
  • Ability to conduct design reviews and remedial actions to uphold quality and alignment with architectural standards.

Compensation

The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00 – $286,000.00. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Stock compensation may also be included.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 2 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
