Ripple is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for Financial Crimes in San Francisco, CA to own the architecture of the compliance control plane and drive its evolution across Ripple product lines. You’ll work beyond individual services to set the technical strategy and raise the engineering bar across the team.

Qualifications

• 8+ years building production backend systems.
• Owning architecture for complex distributed systems at scale.
• Drive technical direction across teams and influence decisions beyond scope.
• Strong resilience and distributed-systems design instincts.
• Excellent API design judgment (REST/gRPC).
• Navigate ambiguity in regulated environments; translate findings into plans.
• Working knowledge of Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure (AWS).
• Mentor engineers and raise technical bar.

Responsibilities

• Set architectural direction for the compliance control plane across product lines.
• Drive hardest technical problems end to end with high throughput and auditability.
• Translate regulatory obligations into durable engineering primitives and roadmaps.
• Anticipate platform risks and scalability constraints; lead addressing initiatives.
• Partner with senior leaders to align cross-functional objectives with regulatory requirements.
• Set standards for production ownership (observability, alerts, incident response).
• Mentor senior and mid-level engineers to raise overall design quality.
