Job summary

Snowflake seeks a Staff Software Engineer for File Ingestion (Customer-Facing Services). You will lead architectural vision for high-throughput ingestion services and APIs, spanning multi-cloud environments.

Qualifications

• 10+ years designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems or cloud-native infrastructure.
• Proven leadership taking complex, customer-facing services or external APIs to GA and global scale.
• Expert proficiency in Java or C++ (strongly preferred across both).
• Deep expertise in external API design, cloud orchestration, and multi-tenant endpoints.
• Experience in high-throughput ingestion pipelines, distributed query engines, messaging systems, or database internals.
• Excellent written and verbal communication to drive technical consensus across stakeholders.
• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Define multi-year architecture and strategy for high-throughput, external-facing ingestion services and APIs across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
• Lead end-to-end delivery of enterprise-grade features with low-latency data landing and high availability.
• Set technical direction, write foundational design docs, and lead architectural reviews.
• Collaborate with Principal Architects, Product Management, Security, and external platforms to translate requirements into resilient systems.
• Mentor and sponsor engineers across levels to improve design, testing, and operational maturity.
• Engage with enterprise customer teams to solve complex integration challenges and feedback into platform capabilities.
