Job summary

Copper is hiring a Software Engineer to build and scale software that connects our appliances, cloud infrastructure, and customer-facing apps. You will work across cloud services, data pipelines, mobile and web applications, and interfaces that tie software to real hardware in homes.

This is a high-impact, hands-on role with end-to-end ownership. You’ll join a small, cross-functional team, shipping mission-critical features that support customers, manufacturing, operations, and Copper’s climate

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software development experience, ideally including startup experience.
• Proven ability to drive large, ambiguous technical problems from definition through execution.
• Strong experience designing and building cloud-based systems (AWS or similar).
• Experience with TypeScript/Python, React-based frontends, and SQL/database-backed systems.

Responsibilities

• Own the design, implementation, and evolution of critical software systems spanning cloud infrastructure, mobile applications, and internal tools.
• Design, implement, test, and ship features across cloud, mobile app, and internal tools used by customers, installers, manufacturing, and operations teams.
• Own and grow data pipelines and cloud systems powering fleet visibility and analytics.
• Collaborate with hardware, firmware, manufacturing, and product teams to integrate software with devices and real-world workflows.
• Refine feature requirements balancing user needs, complexity, reliability, and maintainability.
• Lead technical direction and prioritize high-impact work with engineering leadership.
• Support mobile releases and QA with automation and repeatable processes.
• Lead by example with high-quality code and strong engineering practices; mentor engineers.
