Role Summary: Staff Software Engineer (EAA)

What This Role Is Really About

You’ll build systems that empower Coinbase’s customer service and compliance teams by:

• Leading AI/ML-powered feature integration (ChatGPT/OpenAI, etc.)
• Increasing automation for KYC and CX workflows
• Improving agent productivity and internal tooling

This isn’t a crypto-core or protocol role — it’s enterprise engineering with real-world impact, supporting Coinbase’s critical compliance and customer support ops.

• Build scalable, production-grade React + Golang web apps
• Lead AI/ML tool integrations (e.g., OpenAI APIs)
• Architect resilient, observable, performant cloud infrastructure
• Collaborate cross-functionally with design, security, product, and data teams
• Communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders

8+ years software engineering experience

Strong with:

• Golang (primary backend language)
• React/modern JS (frontend UI work)
• AI/ML API integration experience (ideally OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar)
• Experience with high-traffic or large-scale systems
• Comfort with third-party APIs and internal SaaS-like services
• Experience with Python or Ruby
• Working knowledge of Kafka, gRPC, GraphQL, Postgres/NoSQL
• Background in event-driven architecture
• Experience building enterprise SaaS platforms
• Prior work on ChatGPT/OpenAI apps or integrations
