Apple Inc. in Cupertino is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the ASE Storage team. You will help design and build backend storage services handling massive scale, with a focus on durability, availability and security.

The role involves working on a distributed key-value store, Raft/ZAB logs, and high-performance IO stacks across 2000+ hosts. The ideal candidate has 10+ years in software or infrastructure and 5+ years in distributed systems, with proficiency in Rust, C++, Java, or C#.

Qualifications

• 10 years of professional software development experience on software or infrastructure systems.
• 5 years of experience building and operating distributed systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
• Experience coding in one or more of these programming languages: Rust, C++, Java or C#.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, an engineering-related field, or equivalent related experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain the software and services to improve the feature set, availability, scalability and security of Apple's internal cloud infrastructure.
• Ability to make tradeoffs on availability and performance while prioritizing durability.
• Design and implement features for a distributed key-value store and related components.
• Collaborate with internal teams to deliver scalable, reliable backend systems across Apple services.
