ID.me is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the Reporting & Billing team in McLean, VA. You will own the reporting data model, API contracts, and the billing architecture that powers customer invoicing and data delivery at scale.

The role requires strong data modeling, API design, and leadership to guide engineers. This position emphasizes reliability, security, and compliance with NIST 800-63-3 IAL2/AAL2 standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating high-availability, correctness-critical systems.

Responsibilities

• Architect & Own the Transactions Data Model to model, record, and store user activity.
• Build Customer Data Delivery via APIs, exports, webhooks, and event streams with clear contracts and SLAs.
• Architect Billing Automation to convert events into accurate, auditable charges.
• Ensure Reliability, Correctness & Compliance for data writes, reads, and billing at scale with security and audit requirements.
• Provide Technical Leadership & Mentorship, setting code quality and design standards.
• Champion AI-first development using Claude Code and Cursor to accelerate design and delivery.
