Job summary
The Weather Company in Atlanta, GA is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to drive consumer weather science and AI initiatives. You will translate model outputs into production-ready data services and APIs, collaborating with product, design, and engineering teams to deliver scalable weather experiences for millions of users.
We expect 4+ years of software engineering, hands-on AWS and LLM API expertise, and a track record turning research into production.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of software engineering with production experience at consumer scale.
- Ability to translate model output, observations, and AI-derived insights into APIs and data services.
- Experience with AWS services (S3, Lambda, ECS, API Gateway, SQS/SNS).
- Hands-on experience with LLM APIs, prompt engineering, evaluation, guardrails, and observability.
Responsibilities
- Deliver science-side consumer vertical experiences from model output to user-facing features.
- Build data pipelines and APIs for forecast products using lab ML models.
- Drive LLM-driven content generation in consumer experiences.
- Collaborate with product, design, and engineering to translate science into product.
