Job summary

The Weather Company in New York, NY, seeks a Staff Software Engineer for the Consumer Weather Science & AI vertical. You will own the technical and scientific delivery of consumer-facing experiences, translating model outputs and AI insights into robust APIs and data services used by millions of users.

You'll work with scientists, product, design, and engineering partners to build data backends, orchestrate experiments, and shepherd labs into flagship products while advancing AI-driven content

Qualifications

• 4+ years of software engineering with consumer-scale systems.
• Knowledge of atmospheric science or related earth-science domain.
• Experience using AI coding assistants and ML APIs.
• Proficient in cloud data pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Ability to translate scientific outputs into production APIs.

Responsibilities

• Own technical and scientific delivery for consumer vertical experiences.
• Translate model output and AI insights into production data services.
• Develop data backends and API integrations for flagship products.
• Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams.
• Lead experiments from lab prototypes to production features.
