Job summary

Dremio is hiring a Staff Software Engineer to independently own multiple medium-to-large connectivity features and services. You will define milestones, design scalable systems, and drive production delivery while mentoring engineers and influencing partner teams.

You will bring deep expertise in at least one area (e.g. JDBC/ODBC drivers, Apache Arrow, or BI interoperability) and collaborate across driver, protocol, and data-platform components to deliver reliable data access solutions.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of production software engineering experience or equivalent
• Deep proficiency in one or more systems languages (Java/C++/Rust/Go)
• Experience designing and debugging APIs, protocols, client libraries, drivers, or distributed services
• Strong problem-solving across client/server and distributed-system boundaries
• Experience building unit, integration, and performance tests and working in CI/CD
• Excellent written and verbal communication with cross-team influence

Responsibilities

• Own substantial connectivity work from problem definition through delivery and handoff
• Define milestones, acceptance measures, dependencies and risks for complex goals
• Design scalable, maintainable systems and explain trade-offs
• Lead root-cause analysis across client/server boundaries
• Maintain API and protocol stability and ensure compatibility and reliability
• Collaborate with Product, QA, Support, and external partners to resolve dependencies
• Mentor engineers and contribute to upstream open-source projects
• Apply AI-assisted development tools responsibly while protecting data
