Job summary

IonQ, Inc. is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead our billing and payments platform integrations, owning end-to-end usage-based billing, pricing primitives, and revenue data pipelines in collaboration with Product, Finance, and Engineering.

Ideal candidates have 8+ years of backend software engineering experience, 3+ years leading large-scale projects, strong Go backend skills, and experience with Metronome or Stripe for invoicing and revenue reporting.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience shipping backend or platform systems
• 3+ years leading large-scale, complex projects as a tech lead
• Experience with usage-based billing, invoicing, and revenue reporting
• Strong Go backend development skills
• Familiarity with external billing platforms like Metronome and Stripe
• Excellent written and verbal communication with autonomous work style

Responsibilities

• Design and implement end‑to‑end usage‑based billing capabilities and revenue data pipelines
• Collaborate with Product, Finance, and Engineering to enable international expansion and enterprise resellers
• Own interfaces with third‑party billing platforms and internal datasets for invoices and revenue reports
• Perform required manual work such as contract amendments and pricing config changes, with room for automation
• Partner with Finance, Legal, and other stakeholders on compliance‑related technical decisions
