CodePath is expanding its engineering team to architect the next frontier of our AI-enabled learning platform. We seek a Staff Software Engineer to lead across the stack—from infrastructure decisions to product direction—and own high-impact architectural choices in a fully remote role.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years of software engineering experience, 5+ years with Ruby on Rails, strong PostgreSQL skills, and a systems-thinking mindset.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience with at least 5 years in Ruby on Rails.
• Strong PostgreSQL and database design skills.
• Systems-thinking approach to scalability, maintainability, and failure modes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Experience leading technical decisions in small, autonomous teams.
• Passion for education and making a positive impact.

Responsibilities

• Architect and build web applications across Rails, Sinatra/Padrino, and Django to support our mission.
• Make architectural and infrastructure decisions with full ownership of tradeoffs.
• Set and enforce code quality through reviews and guidance.
• Write automated tests reflecting real edge cases.
• Identify performance bottlenecks before outages and optimize systems.
• Mentor other engineers to raise the team's technical ceiling.
