Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced software engineer to lead AI integration efforts and design a scalable backend architecture in a fast-paced environment. You will own the connectivity of third-party AI tools, build MCP servers, and guide incident response across multiple systems.

The role emphasizes mentoring other engineers, collaborating with diverse teams, and representing the team to stakeholders while advancing security, identity workflows, and automation initiatives.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong programming skills in one or more backend languages (e.g., Python, Go, Java, TypeScript/Node).
• Deep, hands-on expertise in authentication and authorization (OAuth 2.0/2.1, OIDC, SAML).
• Strong systems design and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience building and integrating with APIs and services (REST/RPC, webhooks).
• Grounding in engineering quality practices: automated testing, code review, CI/CD, observability.
• Familiarity with the Model Context Protocol (MCP) and emerging AI-connector/gateway ecosystem.
• Proven use of AI tools to speed up engineering work.
• Track record of operating at a staff-level scope.
• Ability to lead and mentor other engineers.
• Comfort working across diverse teams.

Responsibilities

• Own third-party AI tools connectivity end-to-end.
• Design and evolve the AI integration architecture.
• Build and own custom MCP servers.
• Lead incident response and complex, cross-system troubleshooting.
• Build automation and integrations using scripting and platform/tool APIs.
• Integrate AI tools with identity, security, and IT workflows.
• Use AI as a force multiplier for your work.
