Job summary

Pinterest is seeking a Staff Software Engineer, AI tools, to own how third-party AI tools connect to Pinterest and to lead secure MCP-based integrations. You will shape architecture for secure AI connectivity, mentor engineers, and drive cross-functional initiatives across Security, Networking, and vendor teams.

You will design standards for onboarding new AI vendors, build connectors for internal tools like Slack and Google Workspace, and ensure compliance with security and privacy controls

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience in medium-to-large environments.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
• Strong backend programming in Python, Go, Java, or TypeScript/Node.
• Deep expertise in authentication and authorization (OAuth 2.0/2.1, OIDC, SAML).
• Strong systems design and troubleshooting across clients, networks, identity, and services.
• Experience building or integrating with APIs and services (Slack, Google Workspace, Atlassian).
• Experience mentoring engineers and leading cross-functional initiatives.
• Familiarity with MCP and security/compliance controls for external integrations.

Responsibilities

• Own third-party AI tools connectivity end-to-end and manage secure access boundaries.
• Design and evolve the AI integration architecture with guardrails and standards.
• Build and own custom MCP servers and connectors to expose internal tools.
• Lead incident response and cross-system troubleshooting for high-impact issues.
• Build automation and integrations using scripting and APIs for lifecycle management.
• Integrate AI tools with identity, security, and IT workflows.
• Use AI to accelerate engineering work with validation and peer review.
• Lead cross-functional projects like onboarding new AI tools and migrations.
• Mentor engineers, review designs, and share best practices.
• Represent the team with stakeholders and vendor engineering teams.
