Workiva is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the design and scaling of AI-powered applications on the Workiva platform. You will shape architecture, mentor engineers, and influence across teams to deliver high-impact, customer-facing solutions.

The role emphasizes hands-on building with leadership, including shaping technical strategy, guiding product-definition, and ensuring secure, scalable software. Fluency with AI tools like OpenAI, Claude, and Cursor is expected.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in software engineering delivering complex systems.
• Bachelor's degree in CS, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with TS, Java/Kotlin, Go and databases such as Postgres or MongoDB.
• Experience building AI-powered features and LLM integrations.
• Familiarity with OpenAI, Claude, Cursor or similar tools.
• Ability to operate in ambiguous environments and drive production systems.

Responsibilities

• Drive product development of AI-powered features from prototype to production.
• Define and evolve architecture enabling scalable systems.
• Mentor engineers and collaborate with Product and Design.
• Lead cross-team alignment and manage technical risk.
