Job summary

Nectar is hiring a Staff Software Engineer in New York to scale our AI‑native social operating system. You’ll work across the full stack, from backend data processing to frontend interfaces, shaping architecture and engineering culture as the platform grows.

You will lead design decisions, improve performance and reliability, and mentor engineers while you build AI‑powered product experiences for brands optimizing social conversations. This is a fast‑moving startup role with high ownership.

Qualifications

• Strong engineering experience designing, building, and operating production systems (backend/frontend/full‑stack).
• Deep understanding of system design, distributed systems, and scalable architecture.
• Experience building reliable data pipelines on external APIs or data‑heavy web apps using React.

Responsibilities

• Design and build backend systems that ingest and process large volumes of social data from platforms like Instagram, TikTok, X, and LinkedIn.
• Develop resilient integrations with third‑party APIs and optimize infrastructure powering AI workloads.
• Improve reliability, performance, and cost efficiency across backend and data pipelines as the platform scales.
• Establish operational best practices including monitoring, incident response, and on‑call culture.
• Build AI‑powered product experiences such as conversation inboxes, AI‑suggested replies, and summarization into actionable insights.
• Improve shared components, design systems, and frontend architecture to accelerate product development.
• Optimize performance and reliability across the application for thousands of daily users.
• Collaborate with product and design teams to deliver intuitive workflows for brand and marketing teams.
• Write architecture documents and guide infrastructure, tooling, and frontend decisions across the team.
• Review designs and code, providing feedback to raise the quality bar.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to strong engineering culture and practices.
