Staff Software Engineer — AI-Driven End-to-End Owner

Gusto; San Francisco (CA); Presencial; USD 197.000 - 247.000; Jornada completa

Descripción de la vacante

Gusto Solo is the all-in-one platform for solopreneurs. We’re seeking a Staff Software Engineer to help build the next chapter of Solo and an AI-native product. You will own end-to-end delivery, work with a small, fast-moving team, and shape product, design, and GTM choices along the way.

We value ownership, a product mindset, and a willingness to wear many hats. You’ll partner with product, design, data science, and GTM to rapidly prototype and ship scalable features, while driving engineering

Formación

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proficiency across a full-stack toolkit (Ruby on Rails, React, TypeScript, GraphQL).
• Demonstrated ownership of 0→1 or greenfield projects, not just extensions.
• Self-driven mindset with comfort in ambiguity and direction setting.
• Genuine, habitual use of AI tools in day-to-day engineering work.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with cross‑functional partnership.

Responsabilidades

• Own end-to-end delivery of net-new product areas, from design through shipping.
• Use AI as a genuine multiplier in your workflow and build AI-native experiences into the product.
• Partner with Product, Design, Data Science and GTM to identify problems, prototype solutions, and iterate quickly.
• Make pragmatic architecture and data-modeling decisions for novel problems.
• Build and maintain full-stack features—from backend APIs to frontend UI—for scalability and maintainability.
• Contribute beyond the engineer lane to product framing, design tradeoffs, or GTM considerations.
• Help define engineering practices and technical foundations for an early-stage team.
