Replit, the agentic software creation platform, is seeking a senior backend engineer to build high-throughput services and collaborate with AI tooling teams on the Replit Agent experience, bridging the AI and UX groups.

This role blends systems engineering, developer experience and product engineering, spanning browser frontends, high-performance backends, and Linux systems, with an emphasis on simplicity, autonomy, and shared ownership.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of backend experience.
• Focus on simplicity and pragmatism; ship incrementally.
• Self-directed and autonomous work style.
• Collaborative and team-oriented with shared ownership.

Responsibilities

• Build high-throughput backend applications and services (e.g., streaming chat between user and agent).
• Design a collaborative system where humans and AI agents work together on shared shells and state, conflict-free and real-time.
• Develop frontend and backend infrastructure that enables product engineers to ship delightful experiences.
• Design and build robust interfaces between the Agent and internal/external systems (MCP).
