Job summary

Google Inc. in Kirkland, WA, is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the Ads Enterprise Platform to drive long-term engineering strategy and own key design decisions.

You will collaborate across Ads platforms to improve productivity and impact while balancing short-term delivery with the long-term vision. You will mentor engineers, lead ML design and AI tooling integration efforts, and steward scalable architectures in a fast-moving environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in software development.
• 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products, and 3 years of software design and architecture.
• 5 years of experience with ML design and ML infrastructure (e.g., model deployment, evaluation, data processing, debugging, and fine-tuning).
• Experience in prompt engineering, or multi-agent systems.
• Experience integrating generative AI tools or LLM interfaces into workflows.

Responsibilities

• Drive the long-term engineering strategy, incorporating organizational business priorities and technological shifts while leveraging AI capabilities.
• Own key technical decisions based on your expertise to guide the team through important design tradeoffs.
• Improve the organization's technical health by ensuring the right investments are made to remove widely-felt barriers to productivity.
• Work cross-functionally to ensure alignment and re-use across the Ads platforms while making decisions that are best for the overall business.
• Grow the next generation of technical leaders through direct coaching and scalable mentorship initiatives.

• 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.
• Experience developing joint plans, driving alignment on shared goals, and navigating dynamic development environments to balance short-term benefits with long-term visions.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $207000 - $300000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits
