Job summary

Anthropic Limited, based in San Francisco, seeks a Software Engineer for the Account Abuse team. You will build scalable systems that gather and analyze signals, balance tradeoffs, and coordinate with stakeholder teams across the company.

The ideal candidate has a CS degree, strong Python and SQL skills, and 8+ years in software engineering, preferably in integrity, fraud, or abuse detection, with experience building trust and safety tooling for AI systems.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or comparable experience
• Proficiency in Python, SQL, and data analysis tools.
• Strong communication skills and ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• 8+ years of industry software engineering experience (preferably with integrity, fraud, or abuse detection)
• Experience building trust and safety mechanisms for AI/ML systems and related tooling

Responsibilities

• Ability to think and respond quickly in a rapidly-changing greenfield environment
• Jumping into other teams’ code to identify key points to gather signals or introduce interventions with minimal impact on their systems’ stability, complexity, or overall architecture
• Integration with third-party data-enrichment vendors
• Creating monitoring dashboards, alerts, and internal admin UX
• Working closely with data scientists to understand usage patterns and with Policy & Enforcement to maximize human-review impact
• Building robust and reliable multi-layered defenses
• Lead root cause analyses and deep-dive investigations into account activity to identify abuse patterns and inform enforcement actions
