Job summary

Asurion is seeking a Staff Software Engineer–Hub Team in Nashville, TN. You will design, build, and evolve cloud-native applications, owning features end-to-end from concept to production.

You’ll collaborate across product, design, and engineering to deliver reliable software with a focus on performance and long-term maintainability. This senior role emphasizes mentoring, architectural input, and elevating the engineering bar through thoughtful design, automated testing, and modern DevOps

Qualifications

  • Asurion requires a bachelor's degree in CS/SE or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7+ years of professional software engineering experience designing, building, and supporting production software.
  • Strong experience with TypeScript/JavaScript, Node.js, and modern frontend frameworks like React.
  • Experience designing RESTful APIs and distributed systems.
  • Experience deploying cloud-native apps on AWS with serverless and container-based architectures.
  • Solid understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and OO/FP principles.
  • Experience with automated testing (unit, integration, end-to-end) and CI/CD.
  • Proven ability to lead technical implementations with minimal oversight.
  • Mentoring engineers via code reviews and collaboration.

Staff Software Engineer– Hub Team

As a Staff Software Engineer, you'll help design, build, and evolve the technology that powers critical business experiences at Asurion. Working as part of a collaborative, product-oriented engineering team, you'll solve complex technical problems, contribute to architectural decisions, and deliver scalable, reliable software that creates meaningful business impact.

What You Will Be Doing

As a Staff Software Engineer, you'll be a senior individual contributor responsible for designing, building, and evolving the applications that power the Hub platform. You'll work across the full technology stack, solve complex technical problems, and help raise the engineering bar through thoughtful design, high-quality code, and mentorship.

You will:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable, cloud-native applications across frontend and backend technologies.
  • Own the technical implementation of complex features from design through production deployment.
  • Partner with Product, Design, and fellow engineers to translate business needs into intuitive, reliable software solutions.
  • Design and implement RESTful APIs and scalable backend services.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code with a focus on performance, reliability, and long-term maintainability.
  • Champion engineering best practices including automated testing, code reviews, CI/CD, and operational excellence.
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and help evolve the technical direction of the team's applications and services.
  • Troubleshoot production issues, improve application observability, and proactively address technical debt.
  • Mentor engineers through technical guidance, code reviews, and collaborative problem solving.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and engineering practices to continuously improve developer productivity and product quality.
  • Leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering efficiency, code quality, and software delivery.
What You Will Bring

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 7+ years of professional software engineering experience designing, building, and supporting production software applications.
  • Strong experience developing full-stack applications using TypeScript, JavaScript, Node.js, and modern frontend frameworks such as React.
  • Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs and distributed systems.
  • Experience building cloud-native applications on AWS using serverless and container-based architectures.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and object-oriented and/or functional programming principles.
  • Experience with automated testing, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and applying modern DevOps practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently lead the technical implementation of complex initiatives and deliver high-quality software with minimal oversight.
  • Experience mentoring engineers through collaboration, code reviews, and technical guidance.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate across engineering and cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration technologies.
  • Experience building highly available, large-scale distributed systems.
  • Experience with observability, monitoring, and production operations.
  • Experience supporting internal enterprise applications and business-critical platforms.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools (such as Claude, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar technologies) to improve software delivery and engineering productivity.
