Job summary

Okta is seeking a Staff Engineer for the OIG team to own and shape enterprise-grade features at scale. You will drive end-to-end delivery across design, implementation, testing, and post-launch monitoring for identity governance capabilities used by thousands of enterprises.

Work with product, design, QA, and SRE to ensure correctness, reliability, and performance while mentoring across teams and contributing to architecture decisions affecting multi-tenant, secure access governance.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience in production environments.
• Architecting and delivering large-scale, distributed systems for enterprise customers.
• Deep expertise in microservices, event-driven architectures, APIs, and data modeling at scale.
• Proficiency in Java, Kotlin, Go, or equivalent JVM/cloud-native languages.
• Ability to influence technical direction across multiple teams and stakeholders.
• Experience designing systems with reliability, scalability, and security (multi-tenancy, audit logging, RBAC/ABAC).

Responsibilities

• Take end-to-end ownership of feature areas from design to deployment and monitoring.
• Design, build, and ship production-ready features across the OIG system with emphasis on correctness and performance.
• Deliver high-quality bug fixes and address customer-reported issues promptly.
• Write clean, well-tested code and maintain engineering quality standards.
• Partner with Product, QA, and Site Reliability Engineering teams for scoping and deployment.
