Job summary

Seeds is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to own problems spanning multiple systems and workstreams, turning unclear goals into production-ready plans while setting technical patterns for others to follow.

Our stack includes .NET Core / C#, React / TypeScript, PostgreSQL, and AWS. You’ll report to the CTO and collaborate with product, investments, and engineers across every workstream.

Qualifications

• 8+ years building and shipping production systems.
• Deep expertise in full stack: C# / .NET Core, React / TypeScript, PostgreSQL, AWS.
• Experience with cloud architecture or AI-enabled platforms.
• Proven ability to set patterns and guide teams.

The Role

We’re hiring a Staff Software Engineer to own the problems that span several systems and workstreams and have no obvious owner. You’ll take these from an unclear goal to production, set the technical patterns other engineers follow, and keep building hands‑on. Our stack is a .NET Core / C# back end, React / TypeScript front end, PostgreSQL data layer, and AWS infrastructure.

You’ll report directly to the CTO and work closely with product, design, investments, and engineers across every workstream.

What You’ll Do

• Own cross‑cutting problems from framing to production, turning a goal that spans several systems into a plan other engineers can execute, then seeing it through.
• Build across the stack, designing, developing, testing, and shipping features and services end to end, and taking on the riskiest and least understood parts yourself.
• Decide when the problem itself is unclear, choosing a direction without the full picture and making the trade‑offs explicit to the people they affect.
• Set the patterns other engineers build on, such as service design, testing strategy, and shared frameworks, and evaluate new technology deliberately before we adopt it.
• Design for the long run, keeping the cost of future change low and building in reliability, observability, and security for a regulated financial‑services business.
• Shape the roadmap with product and the business, bringing technical options, costs, and risks early enough to change the plan.
• Anticipate domain and regulatory complexity, so the architecture of our investment, advisor, and trading systems is right for the domain before it’s built.
• Make other engineers better, using design reviews, pairing, and mentoring, including with engineers outside your own workstream.

Successful Candidates Will Have

• Substantial experience building and shipping production systems, typically 8+ years, including work you owned across several systems or teams from first design to production.
• Deep expertise in at least one part of a modern full stack, and effective across the rest. We build on C# / .NET Core, React / TypeScript, PostgreSQL, and AWS; comparable depth in another ecosystem counts.
• Deep, demonstrated expertise in at least one area, whether cloud architecture and infrastructure on AWS or a comparable cloud, agentic software development where agents do production engineering work under guardrails and evaluation, or building AI capabilities into a product platform.
• A record of setting patterns other engineers adopted, such as frameworks, standards, or platform pieces that teams kept building on after you moved on.
• Strong architecture judgment, shown in services that stayed easy to change years after you designed them.
• A record of turning unclear goals into plans, written so other engineers could execute them.
• Fluency with AI‑assisted development, building with agents like Claude Code daily, with a point of view on where they help and a high bar for what you ship.
• Excellent cross‑functional communication, including written design proposals and explaining trade‑offs to non‑technical partners.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent demonstrated experience.

Bonus: financial services, FinTech, or wealth-tech, and comfort in a regulated context (SOC 2), modernizing legacy applications or leading large migrations, start‑up experience.

• AI is an enhancement, not a replacement. A strong engineer with AI is the bar; AI does not lower the bar for engineering judgment, design sense, or accountability.
• You own your output. No “the model wrote it” — you are the accountable owner of everything you ship, with the same standard you’d hold for hand‑written code.
• You help shape how the team works with agents. We want engineers who design the practices others adopt, such as the guardrails, review gates, and evaluation that let us safely hand more work to agents over time, while raising quality as velocity goes up.
