Job summary

Clearwater Analytics is seeking a Staff Software Developer for the Energy & Commodities team in New York or London (hybrid, 4 days in office). You will own the architecture for trade capture, lifecycle, risk workflows, and platform frameworks, collaborating with Product Managers and Quantitative Developers.

You will lead design reviews, drive containerized deployment, and push for performance improvements while mentoring engineers and documenting solutions for both technical and non-technical

Qualifications

• 9+ years of professional software development experience, including production work in Python.
• Experience in energy and commodities technology (ETRM/CTRM) or front-office trading support.
• Knowledge of market conventions, deal structures, and lifecycle events for derivatives.
• Ability to work across multiple languages and DBMSes.
• Hands-on experience with containerization and containerized deployment pipelines.
• Experience designing and operating systems on a public cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Proven architectural leadership and ability to influence across teams.
• Excellent communication skills to explain architectural decisions to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end architecture for trade capture, lifecycle, and risk workflows across global commodities.
• Define standards and design patterns; lead design and code reviews.
• Drive cloud deployment, observability, and performance improvements.
• Mentor engineers in design and software engineering practices.
