Job summary

KnowBe4 is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join a global, remote-friendly team responsible for reliable, secure, and scalable platforms. You will work with AWS services, Terraform, GitLab, and observability tools to improve fault tolerance, performance, and deployment processes.

You will design and optimize distributed systems, share solutions with teammates, and contribute to security-first engineering practices while keeping excellent time-management and communication.

Qualifications

• BS/MS/Ph.D. or equivalent plus 8 years experience
• Training in secure coding practices (preferred)
• Proficient coding in multiple or unfamiliar programming languages (e.g. Python, Ruby, Javascript)
• Experience architecting intricate, high-scale patterns in AWS
• Experience architecting repeatable workflows for CI/CD (GitLab preferred)
• Superb communication and documentation skills
• Ability to self-manage time across competing projects
• AWS Cloud Certification(s) - Associate Level

Responsibilities

• Identify and plan future prevention for production incidents
• Design globally distributed systems and processes for the organization
• Identify deficiencies in current applications and infrastructure and correct them
• Define tailored solutions to complex technical problems and share them with teammates
• Make significant new contributions in technology, potentially leading to patents or publications
• Translate KnowBe4's strategic goals into operational plans
• Provide coordination across functional boundaries
• May act as team lead for larger sub-projects or entire, small projects

They work alongside other engineers in a fast-paced, agile development environment, and share solutions to advance the technologies running our systems, improve their safety and reliability, and make the complex distributed services that deliver our platforms easy to understand.

The ideal member of our team gets excited about new AWS service releases, stays up-to-date on industry trends and design patterns, and has excellent time-management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Identify and plan future prevention for production incidents

Minimum Qualifications

• BS/MS/Ph.D. or equivalent plus 8 years experience
• Training in secure coding practices (preferred)
• Proficient coding in multiple or unfamiliar programming languages (e.g. Python, Ruby, Javascript).
• Experience architecting intricate, high-scale patterns in AWS
• Experience architecting repeatable workflows for continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) - GitLab is preferred
• Superb communication and documentation skills
• Effectively able to self-manage your time across competing projects
• Ability to quickly understand, debug, and explain complex distributed systems
• AWS Cloud Certification(s) - Associate Level

Additional Qualifications (Preferred)

• AWS Cloud Certification(s) - Professional Level
• GCP and or Azure
• Experience working for a public company
• Open-source contributions or technical blog experience

The base pay for this position ranges from $170,000 - $210,000, which will vary depending on how well an applicant's skills and experience align with the job description listed above.
