About the Team

Compute, Observability and Reliability (COR) is focused on providing reliable, scalable and cost-efficient infrastructure platform services that enable Outreach engineering teams to deploy and operate enterprise grade cloud services. We are one of the squads in the Foundations organization, which is a collection of squads dedicated to engineering enablement: infrastructure, services, storage, tooling, documentation, processes, and more. COR works closely with many other squads across the company for everything from optimizing our infrastructure costs & engineering efficiency to providing systems to scale our application platform to multiple geographies.

The Role

A Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) in the COR team is responsible for creating and maintaining our Kubernetes platform as well as cloud configuration and most of Outreach’s infrastructure. Every SRE in our team is expected to be empathetic to our customers (other engineers) and focused on overall performance and reliability of systems we own.

A Staff SRE, specifically, is expected to be fully self-reliant and able to independently drive medium sized technical projects.

Location

While our main office is in Prague, this position is remote friendly (within the Czech Republic). To support in-person team chemistry, we organize team meetups every month at the main office. If you are local to Prague, we also encourage you to come into the office more regularly to build relationships with the other teams using the COR platform.

Your Daily Adventures Will Include
  • Working on team-wide projects and initiatives mostly focusing on improving the platform for which we are responsible
  • Kubernetes clusters maintenance & improvements (EKS & AKS)
  • Implementing new tools/projects (Karpenter, KEDA, Istio, ScaleOps, Ansible, ...)
  • Improving our general infrastructure management by either replacing outdated parts or creating new ones from scratch
  • Supporting & helping other engineers at Outreach
  • Reacting to incoming requests/questions on a dedicated slack channel
  • Participating in the on-call rotation. (On-call in our team is a team thing, no-one is left alone)
  • Researching new cool & useful technologies that might help us on our mission
Our Vision of You
  • Proficient in Microsoft Azure Cloud
  • Experience with creating & managing production K8s clusters
  • Experience with digging into & investigating various K8s problems
  • Proficient in any IaaC tool (Terraform / OpenTofupreferred)
  • Proficient in Linux-based systems (Ubuntu, Amazon Linux, Bottlerocket, ...)
  • Proficient in working with version control systems (Github,…)
  • Proficient in any scripting language (bash, python,…)
  • Proficiency in Golang is a plus
  • Team player - someone who is not afraid to ask for help and give one when needed
  • Willingness to continuously learn and grow both as a person and in their career
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Someone who believes in automating away problems
  • Problem solver - someone who is not afraid of difficult problems and is willing to dig deep to solve it
