The Women, Infants, and Children Program (WIC) has been part of the nation’s nutrition safety net for 50 years. It promotes healthy infants, nutritious diets, healthcare, and higher academic achievement. WIC serves families with children up to age five, pregnant women, and new mothers, including dads, grandparents, and foster parents. It operates through local agencies and authorized grocers across California, with ongoing improvements like the California WIC Card and WIC WISE system.
Headquartered in Sacramento, the WIC Division employs over 200 staff and supports a hybrid workforce with equipment and virtual team-building. The division is led by senior managers overseeing various branches supporting WIC families and program partners.
This role supports CDPH’s mission by leading a team that develops support, training, and implements policies for the WIC program, focusing on breastfeeding initiatives, including Peer Counseling, Liaison, and Pump Loan programs. The manager supervises two units and collaborates as part of the WIC Division Management Team.
