Job Description And Duties

Under the general direction of the Chief, Office of Federal Resources, the incumbent serves as Chief, Funds Management Branch. Responsible for all functions and activities necessary to effectively forecast, implement, and manage the Federal fund resources received by the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans). These responsibilities include development and implementation of systems to estimate and monitor federal appropriations and actual federal funds use to optimize the use of all Federal transportation funds provided to California. The incumbent oversees a variety of critical and complex duties relating to financial analysis, management of multiple federal fund sources, cash flows, and both Caltrans and Local Agency project delivery. Effectively managing taxpayer funds and maximizing the use of all available financial resources is a primary strategic goal within the Department, and is the responsibility delegated to this position.

  • How does your education, skills, experience, and knowledge make you the most qualified candidate for this position?
  • Demonstrate your knowledge of the limitations, flexibilities, and requirements related to federal transportation funds, programs, and projects to maximize the receipt and use of federal funds and federal reimbursements.
  • Demonstrate your ability to manage federal funds and program of projects by utilizing various management tools to produce useful reports for analyzing data and monitoring projects to comply with requirements.
  • Demonstrate your experience in communicating effectively with federal, state, and local partners and stakeholders, in meetings and in writing, by preparing procedures, guidelines, and presenting technical information.
